| Meet Connie Morris:
Morris was upset:
"They are very serious about claiming to be a religion," she said.
"We know it's a satire. I don't mind the ridicule; it comes with the
job. But I do personally object to my own religious beliefs being
ridiculed, and that's what the Pastafarians delight in doing."
"These Pastafarians, she said Wednesday, have sent her at least a thousand e-mails since last fall."
So, what's another e-mail?
To: ConnieMorris2010@yahoo.com From: J.T. Eberhard Subject: You're doing a great job!
Mrs. Morris;
My
name is J.T. Eberhard. I am a student at Missouri State University and
I have been a big fan of yours for some time. I am sure you are busy,
so I'll get right to the point and not waste any more of your time.
I
find the fact that children in the state of Kansas are only being
taught science that is based upon evidence gathered in the natural
world is a bunch of bologna. It is clear now that deductions based
upon repeatable experimentation, observation, and the self-correcting
scientific method, as well as any semblance of academic honesty, are no
longer suitable to be taught to our children.
Where we disagree,
however, is what alternative theory to offer up to these young 'uns,
who are our future. I must confess, that I feel for these poor,
wayward youths because they are not being taught about the only true
way to salvation: the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Have
you been touched by his Noodles, Connie? Have you answered the call of
his ever-so-Meaty Balls? If the answer is "no" Connie, then he would
like to hear from you. The FSM can save your soul! I used to be all hung up on drugs...now I'm all hung up on the FSM.
In
conclusion, thank you for fighting the good fight for the academic and
spiritual integrity of our children! The next step is deciding which
idea bereft of any scientific evidence whatsoever to feed them. I urge
you to teach them Pastafarianism as science. Nobody has ever died in his name.
I fully plan to have as many members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster down here at MSU e-mail you with their support. Thank you for your time Mrs. Morris.

| Lets be honest...you want to put it in your window And we want you to put it in your window
What a great trip - it's always great to see the folks. Our trip took an unexpected turn when Dave referred Trotsky and I to this article.
Three protesters from the Calvary Bible
Church in Midway stood in the rain in front of the store, holding signs
asking customers to boycott the company.
Pastor Roy Crane said the protesters want residents to boycott the
store because Walgreens donated $100,000 to the 2006 Gay Games and
fired four pharmacists in Illinois for refusing to sell the
"morning-after" pill.
The
"Gay Agenda" they say. Now, let me point something out...in times of
slavery, it was the "Black Agenda", and why not? It was easy to quote
verses from the bible in support of slavery. Next, in the early 20th
century, it was the "Women's Agenda"; once again with cited verse from
a presumably all-loving god's holy text. Now it's the "Gay Agenda".
Needless to say, Trotsky and I were unable to let this stand.
So, Sunday morning, we rose bright and early and headed over to Calvary Baptist Church in Midway Arkansas.

That's right boys and girls. My wonderful mother,
who holds a degree in Art, whipped us up some signs and we trotted off
to make a statement of our own. Shortly after our arrival, we were
greeted warmly by Pastor Crane.

It
quickly became evident that gluttony was not a sin at this particular
church, given the stature of Pastor Crane and his rather unfriendly
sidekick. We'll call him "Captain Plaid".
Pastor Crane informed us that, while he agreed with the bible verses we elected to cite (one of which was Leviticus 25:17: "Ye shall therefore not oppress one another")
that he simply could not support gay rights on the basis that
homosexuality was a sin. I can totally understand this...I mean, it's
not like jesus ever said "render to Caesar what is Caesar's" or
anything like that...

Pastor
Crane would return later sans Captain Plaid to demand that we set up a
delicious buffet and to give us a pamplet outlining how god has
forbidden homosexuality. But what could Trotsky be reaching for?

By jove! It's one of OUR pamplets! Try to read it before you injest it.

Yes,
you read my sign correctly: homosexuality is perfectly normal. It
occurs in virtually every other species on this planet, especially
during periods of overpopulation. Choosing to be ostracized in today's
society via homosexuality would be akin to choosing to be a jew in Nazi Germany, or choosing to be black in times of slavery.
All the same, it's completely irrelevent. The United States government cannot make any law with respect to any
religion. The idea of marriage is therefore a financial contract
between two people. Their sexual orientation should not forbid anybody
from entering into this contract, especially when recognized religions
in the United States will marry two members of the same gender. This
is religious discrimination and it is far more wrong than homosexuality
will ever be.

Of course, some dialogue was initiated by a few members of the devout. One such dialogue went as follows:
Lady: Would you two like to join us for service? Trotsky: Nope. We're good. Lady: I'm Pam...if I could show you in Romans where it says homosexuality is a sin, would you believe it then? JT: If I could show you where the bible says to kill people that work on Sunday, would you concede it's not true? Pam: Is that the old testament or the new testament? JT: The old testament. In Exodus. Pam: *condescending voice* Well, you see, we live under the new testament now. JT: So god changed his mind? Pam: He didn't change his mind. We lived under law then, but we live under grace now. David: So god changed his mind? Pam: No. Pam's Husband: *almost yelling* Jesus christ died for my sins and he died for yours too!
Pam and her husband promptly bolted for the church.
After about an hour and a half, the service let out...one last to chance to protest the bigotry out of them.

Homosexuality
is perfectly normal. Like heterosexual intercourse, it does not create
a victim. And the federal government could give two shits what your
god has to say about it. Want to oppress one another, despite the
bible's insistance that you don't? Put down the bible and tell me why
it's wrong.
Religion is beautiful until it makes you either hateful, or foolish, or both. Then it is poison.
Thanks to my mother for taking the pictures and making the signs!!! She joins the lovely Carly Ann on our photographer squad as our "on site photographer in Arkansas". Kudos mom! | | |

government.
Instead of some sources that say things
like "immorality is destroying our nation" or "we're doing great things
for this nation", we are going to tell you EXACTLY what is being done
and outline it for
you.

All jaysus, all the time."...........
The Ten Commandments could be posted in schools and government
buildings and a large monument with the biblical directives would be
placed outside the Capitol under legislation awaiting the signature of
Gov. Ernie Fletcher, an ordained Baptist minister.
"The governor looks forward to signing this bill," said Brett Hall,
spokesman for the Republican governor who is currently in the hospital
where he is being treated for a blood clot. "I'm sure he will be very
happy to hear this news."
The measure passed without debate in the House on Friday in a 90-5
vote, and drew immediate criticism from the American Civil Liberty
Union of Kentucky.
The Senate included a provision directing the return a 6-foot-tall
granite monument bearing the Ten Commandments to the lawn outside the
state Capitol. That monument now is on display outside a Fraternal
Order of Eagles lodge in Hopkinsville in southwestern Kentucky.
"It's very irresponsible of legislators to invite costly litigation
on something that they spent hard earned taxpayer dollars on just a few
days ago," said Beth Wilson, executive director of the ACLU in
Louisville. She was referring to a court case in 2001 over the monument
that resulted in the state paying more than $120,000 in attorney fees
to the ACLU.
The measure that awaits the governor's signature also would require
the Legislative Research Commission to post the national motto, In God
We Trust, on the wall in the House of Representatives, behind the
speaker's stand. ........." http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/news/local/14067781.htm?source=yahoodist&content=ken_news /anybody else remember the first amendment? we should bring that back. it was a good idea.
My suprised face is getting a workout. "...... A Gallup report released today reveals that more
than half of all Americans, rejecting evolution theory and scientific
evidence, agree with the statement, "God created man exactly how Bible
describes it."
Another 31% says that man did evolve, but "God guided." Only 12% back evolution and say "God had no part."
Gallup summarized it this way: "Surveys repeatedly
show that a substantial portion of Americans do not believe that the
theory of evolution best explains where life came from." They are "not
so quick to agree with the preponderance of scientific evidence."
The report was written by the director of the The Gallup Poll, Frank Newport.
Breaking down the numbers, Gallup finds that
Republican backing for what it calls "God created human beings in
present form" stands at 57% with Democrats at 44%.
Support for this Bible view rises steadily with age:
from 43% for those 18 to 29, to 59% for those 65 and older. It declines
steadily with education, dropping from 58% for those with high school
degrees to a still-substantial 25% with postgraduate degrees.
Newport wraps it up: "Several characteristics
correlate with belief in the biblical explanation for the origin of
humans. Those with lower levels of education, those who attend church
regularly, those who are 65 and older, and those who identify with the
Republican Party are more likely to believe that God created humans 'as
is,' than are those who do not share these characteristics."
Gallup has asked this question, in different forms,
going back to 1982, but has consistently shown support at 45% or higher
for the notion that "God created man in present form."
The most recent poll, last September, posed the
question this way: "Which of the following statements comes closest to
your views on the origin and devlopment of human beings." This produced
the 53% who chose "God created man exactly how Bible describes it." ........." http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002154704 /...and they vote. //even
though genesis was just made up by ancient tribal elders, and many
church bodies accept that it's little more than mythology.
